About

Robert Wagner for Vermont State SenateMy name is Robert Wagner and I’ve just declared my 2012 candidacy for the Vermont Senate, to represent Addison County & Brandon.

In the 2010 election, my first experience with politics, I earned 4% of the vote, 1127. A great honour. Each vote came from doing my job, pounding the pavements and listening to YOU. I’ve learned a lot over the past year, and intend to keep going. The potlucks and great music will continue, so please stay in touch and let me know what your issues are.

On November 3rd I joined the Loyal Opposition, and launched a citizen’s legislative initiative called Prosper Vermont. This legislation will transform Vermont’s economy, making us more independent, more vital, and will finally allow us to hold onto our wealth and build a Green Vermont. Our wealth that now flows, unearned, into major international corporations and into Wall Street.

We will, together, build this legislation ourselves, you and I, online through wikis and blogs, through meetings in our towns. When presented to the Legislature for a vote, it will come from all of us. It is our right as Vermonters.

The UVM Gund Institute already showed the Legislature where to find the money to help Vermont families, businesses and farms: $1.2 billion per year, or $7700 per family for four every year to be gained! What could YOU do with that money?

The Four Principles of the Vermont Independent Senate run (The Thirty) stand as always:

  • 1. NO further Vermont support for War, Torture…or deployment of VT National Guard. Order the Guard home now.
  • 2. NOT a dime more for Wall Street…Invest VT funds in VT small banks and credit unions for lending here at home.
  • 3. Build a Green Vermont via serious investments in alternative energy, human-food-agriculture, and all local community efforts towards self reliance and town/village life. Clean, green, decent, peaceful & fun.
  • 4. Start the discussion with all Vermonters re returning our state to the status of a free Independent Republic [as we once were], maintaining free trade & good relations with all other nations of the world.
